Receiving the award: in the centre, Nick from the station and Mark from LRSP

Just got the photos from Paul Bigsby at Southern. London Road Station has won Southern Railway’s ‘Best Community Station’ award! Yipee!

It was fitting that Mark went to the award ceremony in Lewes as he’s the person who works so hard to paint out graffiti at London Road Station. Apparently, it was also our herb planters that impressed the judges; the fact that they show trust in, and engagement with, our community.

AwardSo, a big cheer to that community – to Nick in the station office, who takes such good care of the building and platform; to all the community groups past and present who’ve been concerned with maintaining the pleasant and friendly environment; to everybody who’s worked with the LRSP, to neighbours and visitors who drop by the gardens to chat, compost or leave us plants, to people who come to our events, write nice notes in our Visitors’ Book and send us positive comments on the blog; to all who’ve supported the station and the station partnership. We’ve all made London Road a really nice place to be.

About londonrdstationpartnership

We are a small community gardening group at London Rd Station, Brighton - a group of neighbours getting together to grow things on disused land at the station, and enhance the area with plants. We are also a composting hub - and the compost gets used on the gardens.
