Community gardens open days – what a lovely lot of visitors

The month of June has been busy and challenging. After a sudden heatwave in May, we started June with storms, high winds and rain. We then lurched into a super-heatwave of extraordinary temperatures above 30C.

During this time we opened the gardens as part of the Brighton and Hove Community Gardens Network trail. We’ve had a lovely time on two Sundays, one very hot and one windy. We’ve had long leisurely discussions with neighbours and other visitors, sitting under the sycamores in the new picket park. What a boon that has been in the hot weather! It’s a delightful space. Thank you to everyone who visited and to the members of the London Road Station Partnership who spent their Sundays helping out with drinks, showing people around, and generally enjoying the space.

About londonrdstationpartnership

We are a small community gardening group at London Rd Station, Brighton - a group of neighbours getting together to grow things on disused land at the station, and enhance the area with plants. We are also a composting hub - and the compost gets used on the gardens.
